Should the US Military Participate in Private Space Operation Services?
The Russian Military and Chinese Military are participating in private space flight and tourism and they are making money doing it. This supports their forward progression in developing war toys. Should the US Military also participate in private space flight operations or services? Perhaps they should says, the Online Think Tank.
Private Space will be a great industry in the future, but what do I have in mind and how can the US Military become a business service supporting this fledgling industry?
Well, consider that safety is pretty important and a few bad accidents early on in the privatization of space could set everything back a decade if the mass media hysteria is too negative. This could cause unnecessary over regulation from FAA or some new Department of Transportation - Space Agency for private space enterprises.
You know there are several private space schemes where rockets are shot up and the capsule comes back to Earth and deploys massive shoots and lands in the water, like the Apollo Program. Helicopters are a big part of such a recovery effort. It might be nice for the US Military to be hired out to make sure everything goes right.
One good part of US Military assisting private operations is the excellent PR for the Military for recruiting and keeping an eye on who is who. Because space technology can be severely miss-used and "evil" men or those who wish the US ill will, can use this technology to deliver weapons, not good. The entire idea is intriguing and the PR for our military and government would be outstanding. Maybe, we ought to consider this?
